I Just Called, to say 'I love you'

let's see...

I went to Austin this past weekend to visit my brother on his 20th birthday. He's doing well. Austin was great, as usual.

The largest Whole Foods is located in awesome. There's a 3 level parking garage for this place. All the organic food you could ever want or need. AND they have gelato. GELATO. Only one of my favorite things in the world. Not only that but they had good flavors too, like pistachio and one I've never seen before, Avacado. Yum.

Cute cousins are located in Austin as well. lots of "awwwwwwww's"

I was kinda bored today, so guess what I did. That's right. I made a gigantic batch of my Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies... and watched Friday Night Lights with my sister and her boyfriend.

Oh, moment of the week. Hoopy left me a hilarious message that referenced the time I called him and made him listen to "I Just Called to Say 'I Love You'" by Stevie Wonder (I think.) Funny stuff.

Peace homies,
Q

In that kind of mood

I don't know what it is, but I've really been in the cooking/baking mood. Just for the heck of it I made some banana bread the other day and to day I made some crepes. I've made them both before so they turned out quite well. My mom has this crepe maker that works really well. Um, anyways...

Other than that I've been pretty worthless. It's Independence Day (Happy 4th everyone, btw) and I haven't done anything particularly special. I've come to realize that I don't have too many friends in Dallas anymore. What a bummer.

Well, that just means more time to myself. I do have things I need to do... like... read War and Peace, take a first aid/CPR class, make my costume for the Harry Potter premiere (lol), swing lessons at Sons of Hermann, continue training for the Chicago Marathon, and whatever else I can figure out. Seems like I'll be fine.

Do something patriotic today.

I know, I'll make apple pie. You can't get too much more American than that. Hmm, I need more butter and sugar...

Be blessed my friends,
Michael

Weird Stuff

If you know me, then you should already know that I usually keep myself pretty open minded. Those limits do get stretched every once in a while.

In the Philippines, there is a dessert/snack called "mais con yelo" which basically means "corn with ice". The basic recipe include ice, creamed corn, milk, and sugar to sweeten. There's also a "corn and cheese" ice cream.

Lately, I've been all about making smoothies in the morning to go with my breakfast. We were all out of our normal ingredients yesterday, so my dad suggested we try making a "corn and cheese" smoothie. "There's already an ice cream, so why not try making a shake" was his basic argument. So we tried it.

Not too shabby.
It takes a bit of getting used to though.

Did more running yesterday. It felt great, except for my feet. I'm going to get my shoes checked out at my favorite running store, Run-on.

And finally some great news. My currently cancelled trip to the Philippines with my dad might not be a lost cause after all. My dad's friend found some cheaper tickets for us. Now my dad just has to request leave from work again. I'll keep you posted. (I hope I'm focused enough to keep up training there.)

Take it easy, friends,
Michael

Don't take this the wrong way

I just saw War of the Worlds. I had some issues with it, but I was definitely entertained. *spoiler alert* that scene with the aliens walking around the house was awesome. I was also a little unclear about what the movie had to say, if anything. The only thing I got out of it is that "one should do whatever is necessary to survive" and "when push comes to shove, people are animals.. and they suck." It was good, but I found Independence Day to be much more entertaining. Will Smith is funnier than Tom Cruise. Taller too. Isn't Dakota Fanning cute? Like in a cute kid kind of way.

The previews were quite entertaining. King Kong looks interesting... but Jack Black? I wonder how Peter Jackson is going to pull this one off. Bad News Bears? I kinda want to see it. Why? I don't know. Looks kinda funny.

I've been pretty bored since I've been home. Example? I've been reduced to shopping. Well, I've gotten over it. The only "good" thing to come out of my trips to the mall is that I now have reserved copy of the new Harry Potter book waiting for me.

Ok, that's all I got...

Happy Birthday Sarah!

Peace in,
Mike
